С 15 по 19 апреля 2012 года в Хельсинки прошел Международный семинар «Система школьного образования Финляндии».

Участники мероприятия познакомились с уникальной системой образовании Финляндии, позволяющей стране занимать первые места во всех международных исследованиях качества школьного образования, включая исследование PISA, проводимое каждые три года Организацией экономического сотрудничества и развития (ОЭСР). И это в то время, когда по количеству часов, проведенных учениками в школе, страна занимает одно из последних мест.

Во время Семинара делегаты познакомились с финскими коллегами -- представителями Национального комитета Финляндии по образованию, Профсоюза педагогов скандинавских стран и педагогического колледжа университета Хельсинки.

Программа мероприятия также включала посещение учебных заведений Хельсинки -- школы «Каннисто» и средней школы «Тиккурила», которая специализируется на изучении средств массовой информации, кинопроизводства и музыки.

Кроме того, делегаты побывали в детском научно-развлекательном центре Heureka («Эврика») -- на сегодняшний день это главный научный музей Скандинавии.

In this talk he gave at TEDx FHKufstein, Bernhard Schindlholzer contemplated the implications of ephemeralization - the ability of technological advancement to do "more and more with less and less until eventually you can do everything with nothing" - through artificial intelligence and machine learning. He explores the challenges that this technological approach poses to our economy and, furthermore, how they could be addressed by questioning established norms of our education systems.

Dr. Jan Wilson is Wellspring Associate Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and History at the University of Tulsa. Her teaching and research areas include gender and disability studies, feminist theory, and United States Women's History. She enjoys using aspects of popular culture--vampire literature and films, the Harry Potter book series, and the television show Game of Thrones, for example--to teach students about gender, disability, and race in history and American society. She is currently at work on her second book titled The Zoey Journal, which draws on historical analysis, theory, and her personal experiences raising a daughter with autism to offer unique perspectives on concepts such as mothering, identity, intersectionality, the gaze, and the meaning of disability. She and her family are strong supporters of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, the Autism Center of Tulsa, and Able Kids Therapy. An avid runner, Dr. Wilson is currently training for her first marathon.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says her department is working tirelessly to improve reading and maths for learners in early grades.

The department is currently focused on its new Early Childhood Development system and aims to have a detailed cost plan for the project by March 2020.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. How important is your education to you? Have you ever thought about designing your own education? Till H. Groß is a remarkable young man with a passion for psychology. He took his education in his own hands...with mind blowing success.

As soon as Till finished High-School he took his education in his own hands. After reading the whole psychology section of the small town library in his city, he set out to personally meet the authors of the books that thrilled him. In 2011, he started to consciously seek out the best psychologists, therapists and coaches all over Europe in order to learn from them. He visited them at home, attended their workshops and engaged in long email conversation asking numerous questions. His teachers were the founders of whole psychotherapy schools, masters in their field and some of the best paid coaches in Europe. Having the best teachers possible sped up Till’s learning curve immensely and enabled him to give talks throughout Germany at the age of 19, hold a guest lecture at the University of Vienna at age 20, conduct his own seminars, found a startup, and work as a coach at the age of 21.

Alex Faaborg shares how Virtual Reality introduces unique challenges for interface design, and opens up incredible opportunities for the future of art, journalism, and education. Virtual Reality design techniques and Google Cardboard is introduced to over 1000 TEDxCincinnati Main Stage participants.

Alex Faaborg is on the Virtual Reality design team at Google. He has led the design of Android Wear, Google Now, and the Android OS on the Nexus 5. Prior to joining Google, Alex served at Mozilla as the principal designer on Firefox for five years.
