Also check out Chris Olah's blog:

His post on Neural networks and topology is particular beautiful, but honestly all of the stuff there is great.
And if you like that, you'll *love* the publications at distill:

"But I've already voraciously consumed Nielsen's, Olah's and Welch's works", I hear you say. Well well, look at you then. That being the case, I might recommend that you continue on with the book "Deep Learning" by Goodfellow, Bengio, and Courville.
Thanks to Lisha Li (@lishali88) for her contributions at the end, and for letting me pick her brain so much about the material. Here are the articles she referenced at the end:

The following video is sort of an appendix to this one. The main goal with the follow-on video is to show the connection between the visual walkthrough here, and the representation of these "nudges" in terms of partial derivatives that you will find when reading about backpropagation in other resources, like Michael Nielsen's book or Chis Olah's blog.

Typo correction: At 14:45, the last index on the bias vector is n, when it's supposed to in fact be a k. Thanks for the sharp eyes that caught that!
For those who want to learn more, I highly recommend the book by Michael Nielsen introducing neural networks and deep learning: https://goo.gl/Zmczdy
There are two neat things about this book. First, it's available for free, so consider joining me in making a donation Nielsen's way if you get something out of it. And second, it's centered around walking through some code and data which you can download yourself, and which covers the same example that I introduce in this video. Yay for active learning!

We've had a lot of you guys requesting more affordable project boat tours, and this one definitely qualifies. The Bayfield 36 is a great boat model for a couple to own, refit, and cruise aboard. It's a cutter-rigged, full-keeled, go-anywhere bluewater cruiser at a realistic price point, and it has a bath tub! We love the design, but our two biggest complaints are engine access and the location of the chart table. No boat is perfect though, so we still believe the positives outweigh the negatives and it's a great boat for the money.

The only barrier to learning a language is memory. - The process of language learning is the process of forming memories. Nothing more, nothing less. If you understand that, and you understand how memories are formed, then you can make progress in a way you've never dreamed possible before. Gabriel Wyner is an author, opera singer and polyglot based in Chicago. After reaching fluency in German in 14 weeks with the help of the immersive Middlebury Language Schools, he fell in love with the process of language learning, going on to spend two months in intensive Italian courses in Perugia, Italy. Searching for ways to bring the immersion experience into the home, he began to develop a system that rapidly builds fluency in short, daily sessions. In 2010, his efforts paid off. He learned French to fluency in 5 months, and then Russian in 10 months.
Born in Los Angeles, he graduated summa cum laude in 2007 from the University of Southern California with dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Vocal Arts Performance, and was awarded the Renaissance Scholar’s prize for excellence in unrelated disciplines. He then moved to Vienna to pursue triple Master’s degrees at the Konservatorium Wien in Opera, Lieder and Voice, and graduated with honors in 2011.
Currently learning Japanese, he's learned Hungarian and Spanish over the last few years. His book on language learning – Fluent Forever: How to learn any language fast and never forget it – was published on August 5, 2014 (Harmony/Random House). His most recent project has been the development of a new language learning tool, which became the most successful Kickstarter for an app in history in September of 2017. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Hi and welcome to a new lecture in the Fun and Easy Machine Learning Series. Today I’ll be talking about Linear Regression. We show you also how implement a linear regression in excel
Linear regression attempts to model the relationship between two variables by fitting a linear equation to observed data. One variable is considered to be an explanatory variable, and the other is considered to be a dependent variable.
Dependent Variable – Variable who’s values we want to explain or forecast
Independent or explanatory Variable that Explains the other variable. Values are independent.
Dependent variable can be denoted as y, so imagine a child always asking y is he dependent on his parents.
And then you can imagine the X as your ex boyfriend/girlfriend who is independent because they don’t need or depend on you. A good way to remember it. Anyways
Used for 2 Applications
To Establish if there is a relation between 2 variables or see if there is statistically signification relationship between the two variables-
• To see how increase in sin tax has an effect on how many cigarettes packs are consumed
• Sleep hours vs test scores
• Experience vs Salary
• Pokemon vs Urban Density
• House floor area vs House price
Forecast new observations – Can use what we know to forecast unobserved values
Here are some other examples of ways that linear regression can be applied.
• So say the sales of ROI of Fidget spinners over time.
• Stock price over time
• Predict price of Bitcoin over time.
Linear Regression is also known as the line of best fit
The line of best fit can be represented by the linear equation y = a + bx or y = mx + b or y = b0+b1x
You most likely learnt this in school.
So b is is the intercept, if you increase this variable, your intercept moves up or down along the y axis.
M is your slope or gradient, if you change this, then your line rotates along the intercept.
Data is actually a series of x and y observations as shown on this scatter plot. They do not follow a straight line however they do follow a linear pattern hence the term linear regression
Assuming we already have the best fit line, We can calculate the error term Epsilon. Also known as the Residual. And this is the term that we would like to minimize along all the points in the data series.
So say if we have our linear equation but also represented in statisitical notation. The residual fit in to our equation as shown y = b0+b1x + e

Listen To English Conversation. Improve your English by listening to this English Conversation video. This video uses powerful binaural beats and sleep learning technology to help you improve your English speaking ability. It will help you recognise familiar words and teach you how basic English sentences are formed and used. It will also help you learn by totally immersing you in the English language which is proving to be hugely popular and successful. This audio features multiple dialogues of every day English conversation. This video uses advanced binaural beats to help you learn and recognise new words, as well as reinforcing English words you already know and helping you establish how these words are used in general every day conversation.
★How To Use Most Successfully★
- Listen to this video with headphones.
- Listen to this video as you are going to sleep
- Try and clear your mind of all other thoughts
- Repeat the sentences and words out loud if possible
- Visualise the sentences in your head.
- Leave on as you fall asleep
- Repeat the sentences you remember throughout your day
- Try and use parts of the conversation in your daily life
- Do this for 30 days to see massive results
★Video Description★:
This English Conversation video is designed specifically to help you learn English. Listening to English conversation and hearing English conversation being spoken is proving to be an extremely popular learning method, as it is a great way of immersing yourself in a language you are trying to learn. It is great for helping you learn new English words, but more importantly recognising how certain words you have learnt are used in sentences, and in general English conservation. The brain does have the ability to absorb information whilst you’re asleep, as you may know from experience when real sounds from reality have entered your dream and woke you up. This works under a similar principle however the binaural beats ensure you are not woken up and that it is only the learning part of your brain that is listening to the video. Your brain has an optimal frequency for learning, (when you are totally focussed and absorb information easily), your brain also has a perfect frequency for remembering newly processed information and finally there is a frequency of the brain that allows your subconscious to absorb information whilst you sleep. When you then understand that binaural beats can put your brain at any frequency you want, it then becomes clear how this actually works. You are using binaural beats to basically get the most out of your brain.
★Main Features★:
- English Conversation
In this video we use every day English conversation. It uses daily/ typical conversations between 2 English speaking people. This is a great way to help familiarise yourself with the English language and give you a good chance to learn and remember new English words. We use typical English conversation which is suitable for all levels of English speakers, from beginner through to advanced.
This will obviously help with studying for exams like, SAT, IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge CAE and CPE. This video is great for helping you improve you own English speaking ability and perhaps identify how to use certain words and English phrases you are already familiar with and not quite sure how to use correctly.
- Binaural Beats:
Binaural beats used are: Theta 8.0 Hz, Delta 4.0 Hz, Delta 3.0 Hz. These binaural beats are claimed to improve learning, encourage sleep learning, improve our ability to remember specific places and finally to improve memory and help process newly absorbed information. The combination of these 3 specific frequencies is hugely powerful. There are played in the correct order allowing for complete processing, understanding and most importantly memorising.
- Soothing Music:
Soothing background music, there is some very soft music playing in the background just to distract from the sounds of the binaural beats and to ensure you are not distracted from the words you are learning.
- Subtitles:
Subtitles have been included in this English video due to popular demand.
- HD Images:
The images are there as a nice background, only 1 image is used as not to drain your battery or cause any buffering issues, we realise in this video actual images aren’t that important as it is more about what is being said than what you can see.
Warning:
Please remember first and foremost Theta/Delta waves are associated with sleep like states, so it is not advisable to use this video whilst driving.
