Shelia Hill grew up in San Francisco’s Sunnydale Projects. It was a rough neighborhood. She got into trouble when she was young and dropped out of school. She thought it wasn’t for her. Hill’s attitude changed after she had her own children. One day, her son asked why he should bother going to school since she didn’t. It was a lightbulb moment. Hill realized that she had to do better for herself and her family. She learned how to read and got her high school diploma through Five Keys, an organization that gives members of underserved communities a chance to restart their education. Today, Hill works for Five Keys as community ambassador. She goes out into neighborhoods considered education deserts on the Five Keys bus and encourages residents to board the mobile classroom where they can study with a teacher and earn their GEDs. Hill doesn’t want anyone to feel ashamed for not finishing school. So she always makes sure to share her own story, letting people know there was a time when she couldn’t read. And she’s big on follow-up with potential students. “I’ll call them. I’ll bug them. I’ll text them. I’ll email ’em. Whatever it takes,” she says. “I just want you to get your education. That’s it.”

Jack Ma is now one of the world's richest men but failed – thrice – at entering university. The founder and executive chairman of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group was in Hong Kong on May 18 to receive an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Hong Kong.
He urged the young to help solve Hong Kong's and the world's problems.
To him, the greatest challenge of the future is to nurture independent and creative thinkers who are capable of doing what machines are not able to do.
The South China Morning Post is owned by the Alibaba Group.
Florian Radke talks about how Augmented reality is not a toy, it’s a powerful tool that will help solve some of the worlds biggest problems. If we do it right, it can be the next great platform for education, human connection and productivity. Like Iron man, we all will soon be surrounded by data and 3D models that we can interact with, as early as the year 2025.
Florian is currently leading communications at Meta, an augmented reality (AR) company that is one of the companies at the forefront of designing our AR future. Meta’s focus is not on creating experiences that distract or pull us out of the real world, but rather that enhance our natural environments and facilitate greater learning and communication than has been available before.
The possible applications range from more immersive classroom learning to a collaborative creative tool that can be used in real time to bring storytellers together from around the world.

Brown v. Board of Education was a case brought to the Supreme Court in 1954 after Linda Brown, an African American student in Kansas, was denied access to the white-only schools nearby her house. Future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall was the lawyer for the case, and argued that segregated schools were inherently unequal. Ultimately, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Linda Brown and declared segregation unconstitutional. This is one of the landmark cases that led to the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

Mark Twain is attributed with the saying "Those who don't read have no advantage over those who can't."
We are now a couple generations away from our forefathers who abandoned classical education. We are now the generation that does not even know what it has lost. Wes Callihan gives a glimpse at the kind of richness we have lost in this excerpt from the Old Western Culture curriculum on the great books of Western civilization. If you don't study the classics, you have no advantage over those who can't. Roman Roads Media provides tools to help you accomplish this task! Get started today!

Asia is renowned for producing some of the best and brightest students in the world. Such academic achievement is often underpinned by parental pressure, strict discipline and relentless hard study.
In Hong Kong, the demand for extra tuition has turned cram or tutorial school teachers into rich celebrities.
Yet some students have been driven to contemplate suicide as they try to make the grade.
101 East asks: What is the secret behind Asian students' academic success and what happens when the pressure becomes too much?

In this talk, Sonam Wangchuk shares his experience of bringing education reforms in the trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh, India.
Sonam Wangchuk is the founder of Students' Educational & Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL).
While he was doing his mechanical engineering at NIT Srinagar he understood the hardships faced by the Ladakhi students in the government schools; 95% of them were failing in their matric exams every year. Once he finished his graduation, he went back to Ladakh and started SECMOL together with some like-minded youth.
After initially starting with coaching classes to help matric students, they soon realized that for a lasting solution they needed to bring reforms in the village primary schools. So they launched an education reform movement in collaboration with the government. Within seven years the results went up from 5% to 55%. Today it stands at 75%. For those who still failed, they set up a very special and innovative school which has produced many inspiring stories.

5. Should you have sex during periods?
6. I don’t enjoy sex. Is it normal?
7. When I was 23, my boyfriend kissed me by force and we had sex. I did not say no because he said he loves me. Was I wrong?
8. What is the right age for parents to talk to their kids about sex?
9. I keep on thinking about love and sex and I am unable to focus on my studies. What should I do about it?
