This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Artika R. Tyner shares her vision for reimagining education - it begins with placing an explicit focus on leadership development and social justice advocacy. In her talk, the educator and civil rights attorney shares her experience of transforming the classroom into a learning laboratory where students experiment by applying their technical training to address the social justice challenges of our time.

At the University of St. Thomas College of Education, Leadership & Counseling, Dr. Tyner serves as a public policy/leadership professor. She trains graduate students to serve as social engineers who create new inroads to justice and freedom. She serves as a global citizen by supporting education, entrepreneurship, and women’s leadership initiatives in Africa.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
