Moldovan folk is known for swift, complex rhythms (a characteristic shared with many Eastern European traditions), musical improvisation, syncopation and much melodic ornamentation. Moldova's traditional folk culture is very rich. Folk traditions, including ceramics and weaving, continue to be practiced in rural areas.
