How does Sephora's Makeup Artificial Intelligence App works?

How does it detect where your eyes, lips, nose etc is?

How does Clothing detection apps work and know if its a Dress, Pants, Jacket etc.?

I am sure, these questions come to your mind when you see these apps and AI in action.

This tutorial explains what is the first step required for these apps to work and how machine learning & deep learning is applied to make these detections and predictions.

You will learn:
- What is Machine Learning?
- What is Deep Learning?
- Why is it everywhere all of sudden?
- How should you pick one over the other?
- and of course, How do these apps detect what I am wearing?

Machine learning is defined as algorithms that give the ability to computers to learn from data and make predictions.

Deep learning is a subfield of machine learning concerned with algorithms inspired by structure and function of the brain called artificial neural networks.

Machine learning and deep learning are disrupting various industries and you will see huge changes in next few years.

The idea of this video is to take Gardner's Multiple Intelligences and use them as student learning styles, although Gardner specifically says learning styles are NOT multiple intelligences

Student learning styles and multiple intelligences are described and explored in this video. Seven different learning styles are described in detail and explained fully for teachers and educators in all grade levels and disciplines. This video gives credit to howard gardner and his work on multiple intelligences. The video also explains why multiple intelligences are so important to classroom teachers. The first learning style mentioned is the interpersonal learner also known as the social learner. That is followed by the opposite type of learner, which is the intrapersonal learner, sometimes called the solitary learner. Other learning styles included are kinesthetic (physical), verbal or linguistic, auditory or aural, logical or mathematical, and visual. Definition and theory surrounding multiples intelligences are provided throughout along with with suggestions that educators can make to improve their instruction for these students. Other videos in teachings in education playlists are designed for classroom teachers to learn as much as they can, grow as a teacher, and advance in their career of education.

Dr. Conor McDonough Quinn is a documentary linguist, endangered language revitalization worker, and avid learner and teacher of languages. Raised in Portland, Maine, he has lived at length in Indonesia, China, and Oman, and has worked extensively with several indigenous communities of the Northeast. Learning his own family's endangered heritage language (hint: look at the name) in his early teens gave him a passion for helping others to do the same, and led him to pursue linguistics—somewhat single-mindedly—throughout his academic career. Alongside a hefty set of technical research questions in linguistics, he is currently most interested in developing tools to help speech communities carry out their own linguistic documentation and revitalization work, and in finding new ways to reduce the barriers to learning new languages.

"Some people just don't have the language learning gene." To prove that this statement is patently untrue is Benny Lewis's life mission. A monoglot till after leaving university, Benny now runs the World's most popular language learning blog and is learning Egyptian Arabic which will be language number twelve, or maybe thirteen. But who's counting?

Peter Senge is a Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Sustainability at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
The Journal of Business Strategy (September/October 1999) named Senge one of the 24 people who has had the greatest influence on business strategy over the last 100 years. The Financial Times (2000) named him one of the world’s top management gurus, andBusinessWeek (October 2001) rated Senge one of the top 10 management gurus. Senge has lectured extensively throughout the world, translating the abstract ideas of systems theory into tools for better understanding of economic and organizational change. He studies decentralizing the role of leadership in organizations so as to enhance the ability of employees to work productively toward common goals, and the managerial and institutional changes needed to build more sustainable enterprises—those businesses that foster social and natural as well as economic well-being. Senge’s work articulates a cornerstone position of human values in the workplace: namely, that vision, purpose, reflectiveness, and systems thinking are essential if organizations are to realize their potential. He has worked with leaders in business, education, civil society, healthcare, and government.
Senge is the founding chair of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL), a global community of corporations, researchers, and consultants dedicated to the “interdependent development of people and their institutions.” He is the author of the widely acclaimed book, The Fifth Discipline: The Art and Practice of The Learning Organization (1990). With colleagues Charlotte Roberts, Rick Ross, Bryan Smith, and Art Kleiner, he is the co-author of The Fifth Discipline Fieldbook: Strategies and Tools for Building a Learning Organization (1994) and a second fieldbook The Dance of Change: The Challenges to Sustaining Momentum in Learning Organizations (March 1999), co-authored by George Roth. In September 2000, Senge co-authored a fieldbook on education, the award-winning Schools That Learn: A Fifth Discipline Fieldbook for Educators, Parents, and Everyone Who Cares About Education (2000). The Fifth Discipline hit a nerve within the business and education communities by introducing the theory of learning organizations. Since its publication, more than one million copies have been sold worldwide. In 1997, Harvard Business Review identified it as one of the seminal management books of the past 75 years. The Fifth Discipline Fieldbook was developed in response to questions from readers of The Fifth Discipline who wanted more help with tools, methods, and practical experiences in developing enhanced learning capabilities within their own companies. The Dance of Change is based on more recent experiences of companies developing learning capabilities over many years, and the strategies leaders develop to deal with the many challenges this work entails. He also has authored many articles published in both academic journals and the business press on systems thinking in management, and has co-authored Presence: Human Purpose and the Field of the Future.
Senge holds a BS in engineering from Stanford University as well as an SM in social systems modeling and a PhD in management from MIT.

#DESCRIPTION
Peter Senge answers the question by first suggesting that “we jettison the jargon” and work on organizations where everyone works together successfully. He discusses how there are only two dominant factors within an organization: control or learning and the question is which one is dominant. He lays out the major factors that need to be present in order for an organization to be centered in learning.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Are we in a post-racial society? Do we want to be? Anthony Peterson, an African American, draws from current research and from conversations with his Anglo American grandchildren to address truths about race in 21st century America.

Anthony Peterson is an African American Army brat who calls Hawaii home. He has lived, studied, written about, and taught about cultural and racial realities. He has developed and facilitated diversity training for corporate and church leaders. His degrees in psychology and religious education add to his perspective. Anthony continues work as an educator, writer and editor in Nashville, Tennessee, where he lives with his wife, Laura. They count six children and nine grandchildren.

There is lots of research and discussion on the most effective way to learn languages. The answer is, whatever you enjoy doing with the language.

Transcript:
Hi there, Steve Kaufmann here. First of all, I want to say that I did a webcam interview with Luca, the wonderful Italian polyglot. We are going to put it up here at my YouTube channel, but I’m waiting until I’m away because while I’m away I can’t do any videos. I’m going to be in Australia and New Zealand and so Alex is going to put up some pictures. I think Luca and I went at it for about 40 minutes or so, so it’s going to be at least four sessions. So that’s when you’ll be seeing those interviews that I did with Luca, just so there’s not a blank for a whole month.

I want to talk today, in the subject of language learning, about something that’s kind of been running around in my mind. I come up with all these things that are the key to language learning and I may have used this before, I don’t know, but it suddenly dawned on me that the most important thing is, is it fun. Do you enjoy doing it? I mentioned this in my 7 Secrets to Language Learning, I think the first one was spend the time and the second was to do things that you enjoy doing.

Lyrics:

We were some presidents of America
And I know it’s kind of funny
that they printed us on money
but we’re officially
the U.S. currency

Well I’m Abraham Lincoln
16th US president
And my face is on this Penny here you see

This Penny I’m on
is only worth one cent
and it’s the smallest amount of US cash they’ll be

I’m Thomas Jefferson
US president number 3
A Nickel is where you’ll find my face today

If you take 5 pennies
and add them to one coin
You’ll have a Nickel worth 5 cents that you can save

I’m Franklin D. Roosevelt
32nd president
You’ll find my face on a Dime don’t you know

If you take two nickels
and put them in one coin
You’ll have 10 cents that's what a Dime is worth
alone

I’m George Washington
US President number 1
The Quarter is one place you’ll find me for good

Put 25 pennies
into one coin you’ll have
a Quarter worth 25 cents hope you understood

We were some presidents of America
And I know it’s kind of funny
that they printed us on money
but we’re officially
the U.S. currency

I’m George Washington
and I’m back once again
On the US dollar, you can’t get enough of me

If you take four Quarters
and add them to a bill
One dollar’s worth 4 quarters now you can see

I’m Thomas Jefferson
Back to teach you more my friend
I’m on the two dollar bill you see here now you know

If you take two dollars
and put them together in one bill
You’ll have a 2 dollar bill now I gotta go

It’s me again My name is
Abraham Lincoln
The 5 dollar bill is also where I’m shown

When you gather 5 dollar bills
and put them into one
A 5 dollar bill is what you’ll find on its own

I’m Alexander Hamilton
I wasn’t a president
But they put me on the 10 dollar bill anyway

When you have 2 five dollar bills
and put them into one
It makes a 10 dollar bill for you to spend and play

We were some presidents of America
And I know it’s kind of funny
that they printed us on money
but we’re officially
the U.S. currency

Andrew Jackson here
7th US president
The 20 dollar bill is where you’ll find me

When you take two 10 dollar bills
and put them in one
You get the 20 dollar bill that you can see

I’m Ulysses S. Grant
the 18th president
And the bill amount you see me on’s 50

When you take two 20 dollar bills
and also add two 5’s
A 50 dollar bill is that there will be

I’m Benjamin Franklin
But was not a president
My face is on the one hundred dollar bill

When you take two 50 dollar bills
and put them into one
A 100 hundred dollar bill is what they’ll fill

We were some presidents of America
And I know it’s kind of funny
that they printed us on money
but we’re officially
the U.S. currency

Reinforcement Learning has started to receive a lot of attention in the fields of Machine Learning and Data science. In January of 2016, a team of researchers from Google built an AI that beat the reigning world champion of the board game Go. This AI, AlphaGo, utilizes reinforcement learning in order to discover new strategies. Despite the potential of reinforcement learning, there are very few learning resources currently available. This video will help to demystify the field so that its capabilities can be better understood.
